Finance Systems Audit £1,995 fixed · No commitment

In short

The Finance Systems Audit is a fixed-price review for UK small businesses of how your finance work gets done: month-end time, the spreadsheets you depend on, software you pay for and do not use, and whether Xero, QuickBooks or Sage still fits. £1,995, written report and recorded walkthrough within 10 working days, from read-only access and a short form.

Before you hire a bookkeeper, change accounting software or take on more finance staff, find out where the finance work is really going wrong. I review how your books, spreadsheets and systems fit together and send you a written plan.

What you get

Done by me: a chartered management accountant with 24 years in finance who builds finance systems himself.

Month-end time

How long your month-end really takes, step by step, and which steps are people copying figures between spreadsheets and systems by hand.

Spreadsheet risk

The spreadsheets the business depends on: who maintains them, what breaks if that person is off, and where formulas or manual pastes could be giving you the wrong numbers.

Software you pay for

Every finance and admin subscription, what it costs a year, whether anyone uses it, and where two tools do the same job.

System fit

Whether Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or your spreadsheets still fit the business, what a move would involve, and what can be automated where you are.

Written roadmap

A plain-English report: what is working, what is costing you time or money, and what to fix first. Yours to keep and act on whether or not we work together.

Recorded walkthrough

A short recorded video going through every finding, so you can watch it when it suits you and share it with whoever needs to see it. A call if you want one.

Who this is for

✓
UK small businesses running on spreadsheets where month-end takes too long and one person holds it all together
✓
Owners who suspect the books are wrong but do not know where, and do not want to sign up to monthly work to find out
✓
Businesses thinking of changing accounting software that want to know what a move involves before they commit
✓
Businesses preparing to borrow or sell that want the finance set-up checked before a bank or buyer looks at it

How it works

1

Send your details

A five-minute form about your business, your accounting set-up and what worries you. I reply by email within one working day. Free, no obligation.

2

Read-only access and review

You give me read-only access to your accounting system and share the key spreadsheets. I review 6 to 12 months: the chart of accounts, reconciliations, debtors and creditors, and how the month-end is put together.

3

Written report

Within 10 working days you receive a PDF with the findings and the fixes in priority order, written for owners rather than auditors.

4

Recorded walkthrough

I record a walkthrough of the findings and give you an honest recommendation: a catch-up, monthly bookkeeping, a system move, a dashboard, or "you are fine as you are". A call if you want one.

£1,995, credited against monthly work

If you go on to monthly work with me, the audit fee is credited against it. Either way, the report is yours to keep. Price excludes VAT. Every price.

Questions people ask

What is a finance systems audit?

A fixed-price review of how a business's finance work actually gets done: how long month-end takes and which steps are manual, which spreadsheets the business depends on and who maintains them, which finance software is paid for and unused, and whether the accounting system still fits. The output is a written report with the fixes in priority order.

How much does the Finance Systems Audit cost and how long does it take?

£1,995 fixed, excluding VAT. You receive the written report and a recorded walkthrough within 10 working days of giving read-only access. If you go on to monthly work with BlackpeakCFO, the fee is credited against it.

What do I have to provide?

Read-only access to your accounting system (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent), the spreadsheets the business runs on, a list of the finance and admin software you pay for, and a short onboarding form about how month-end happens now. No meeting is needed.

Is this an audit in the statutory sense?

No. It is a review of systems and processes by a chartered management accountant. It is not a statutory audit and does not produce an audit opinion; Stuart Wilson is not a registered auditor.

What happens after the report?

The report is yours whether or not we work together. It ends with an honest recommendation: a catch-up, monthly bookkeeping, a system migration, a dashboard, or "you are fine as you are". Each of those is a separate fixed-price service you can take or leave.
