Why I built this

Big-company finance, built for a small business.

I spent the first stretch of my career in places where the numbers were never in doubt — fund accounting at Citigroup and ABN AMRO Mellon, then private-equity finance in London and Vienna. Teams of people, real-time dashboards, nothing left to chance.

Then seven years as Group Finance Director for a portfolio of small businesses showed me how small businesses actually live with their finances. The owner doing the books at 11pm. The accountant who appears once a year with a bill and a shrug. Software that promised simplicity and delivered a second job. Most owners I met couldn’t answer one simple question — did I actually make money last month? — and none of it was their fault.

That gap is the whole reason BlackpeakCFO exists: the same financial clarity a large institution takes for granted, built for a small business, at a fixed price you can plan around — and run by me, personally, not a faraway team.

    Seven years running the finance function for a portfolio of small and mid-sized businesses under private ownership. Designed and built the accounting infrastructure for a buy-and-build strategy, ran web-based invoicing across the group, supported acquisitions and tightened revenue recognition across the portfolio.
