No retainer · ACMA CGMA · Every pay period

UK payroll means PAYE income tax, employee and employer National Insurance, pension auto-enrolment, statutory sick and parental pay, P60s, P45s, P11Ds and a Real Time Information submission to HMRC every payday. Most small companies outsource it because the cost of getting it wrong is high. I run it for £29 a month plus £4 per employee: the same software and the same compliance, priced for a small team. Employer National Insurance is 15% above the £5,000 secondary threshold for 2025/26 (gov.uk, rates and thresholds for employers).

Questions people ask

What if I only run director payroll for one person?

Director-only payroll is £29 a month plus £4 for the one employee, so £33 a month. Most director-shareholders pay a salary around the National Insurance thresholds and take the rest as dividends; I set the salary level with you at the start of the tax year.

Do you handle pension auto-enrolment?

Yes, included. Contributions to NEST, People's Pension, Smart Pension or another workplace pension are calculated and submitted each period, new joiners are assessed, and the three-yearly re-enrolment is handled.

What about CIS deductions for construction subcontractors?

CIS is handled alongside payroll: subcontractors verified, 20% or 30% deducted at source, the monthly CIS return filed by the 19th and deduction statements issued. It is priced at the same £4 per subcontractor payment processed, agreed in writing before the first run.

Can you run payroll for employees outside the UK?

No. I run UK payroll only. If you employ people in another country you need a local payroll provider or an employer of record there; I can bring their figures into your management accounts so you see one picture.

When do I have to pay HMRC?

PAYE and National Insurance for a month are due by the 22nd of the following month if you pay electronically (the 19th by post). Each period I send a summary of the amount and the date. Source: gov.uk, Pay employers' PAYE.
